VARIETY SUNSHINE COACHES

Through generous support of the Ford Motor Company, the Variety Sunshine Coach Program was born nearly 40 years ago and currently has over 8,250 coaches on the road worldwide as a means to literally bring the “shut-in child” out into the sunshine. This wonderful program has transported at least 55 million special-needs children to treatment, therapy, education, and the larger world.

Bikes for Kids

Variety of Colorado's Bikes for Kids program is available for your school. We will present bikes and helmets to children designated by their school as positive role model students.

On Saturday, May 10 Variety of Colorado Board Members and Volunteers gifted 46 bikes, helmets and locks to well deserving children from Deane Elementary and Lasley Elementary.  Children were nominated by their teachers and had to submit a special school essay as part of the Bike For Kids application process.  Variety of Colorado partnered with Green Mountain Sports of Lakewood to provide quality bicycles and bike assembly for the event.  Deane Elementary also received 15 Polar Heart Rate Monitors from Variety of Colorado.

2007 was our inaugural year for our Variety of Colorado Bikes for Kids program. Our goal is to positively impact the children and, in coming years, increase the number of bikes we can present.

MIRACLES IN MOTION

For over 75 years, Variety – The Children’s Charity has been serving children with special needs.  These children want to be active members in their communities and get a chance to just be a kid. In order to achieve this, they need what most of us take for granted: access. For children with disabilities, this means having the freedom to go where they want to, either on their own, or if they need assistance, reducing the impact they make on those helping them. With the advent of many new mobility technologies, this access is becoming available to more and more children.   Variety of Colorado has been focused on providing children in our community with prosthetic limbs, walkers, wheelchairs, and specially designed adaptive bikes.  For more information on our Miracles in Motion program please contact us.
