Variety the Children’s Charity of Colorado Participates in Nationwide Giveaway for UN Disabilities Day

The holidays came early for some local children as 15 Variety chapters, or “Tents,” gifted 52 adaptive bikes and three sports wheelchairs across the country.

Variety the Children’s Charity of Colorado joined a nationwide effort of Variety Tents to observe the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on Dec. 3 by presenting specially designed adaptive bicycles to two local children with disabilities.

Variety of Colorado presented special bikes to CoraJane and Jada on Saturday, Dec. 3 at Regal Cinemas RiverPoint Stadium 14 in Sheridan, CO.

The United Nations’ International Day of Persons with Disabilities is an annual occasion to reaffirm and draw attention to the rights of people who live with disabilities worldwide. Variety, through its “Kids on the Go!” initiative, regularly assists families in procuring durable medical equipment and services designed to increase access for a child with limited mobility to his or her community, as well as build his or her sense of independence, when the family cannot afford it and insurance denies aid.

Variety of Colorado & Kids Mobility Network Present Adaptive Bicycles to Eight Children With Disabilities at September Event

Variety of Colorado and Kids Mobility Network donated nearly $14,000 in adaptive bicycles to Colorado children with disabilities on September 17th, 2011. The eight children, ranging in age from five to 16 received their special bicycles during a presentation at the Regal River Point Stadium 14 in Sheridan, CO.
